Having recently completed a Creative Arts degree at Bathspa University, my focus now is a duel practice. On the one hand I use realism to convey familiarity in commissions of pets and loved ones. I 'copy' a given image, using watercolour or paint to take time on the details of a given composition. On the other, I continue an experimental practice with which to create my own compositions, enjoying the sheer simplicity (though usually through over-crowding and layering) of art for art's sake. Materials and mark-making play a key role in this practice, physical and digital, and the two 'halves' of my work are not always separate. While I paint the loved ones and loved pets of my customers, I keep a blotting page which I then continue in its own right as an abstract piece.
